Partly cloudy day forecast

NEW DELHI APRIL 6. It will be a partly cloudy sky for the Capital on Wednesday with the maximum temperature likely to be around 38 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature recorded at Safdarjung and Palam was 38.9 degree Celsius while the minimum was 21.4 and 23.0 degree Celsius respectively. While Safdarjung recorded a maximum humidity of 61 per cent at Palam it was 58 per cent, with the minimum humidity recorded being 22 and 30 per cent respectively.

Two held

NEW DELHI APRIL 6. Two persons allegedly circulating counterfeit currency behind the Red Fort here have been arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi police. A consignment worth Rs. 40,000 was seized from them.

Acting on a tip-off that two persons from Jammu and Kashmir would come to the railway bridge behind the Red Fort to deliver a consignment of fake currency notes, the Special Cell laid a trap and arrested them. Fake notes of Rs. 100 denomination were recovered from them. During interrogation, they identified themselves as Mohammad Akbar Butt (56) and Syed Mushtaq Ahmed (23). Butt disclosed that he had a shop in Srinagar and Mushtaq was his employee.

Recently he came across a person, Bilal, who lured him into the business of counterfeit currency that was being smuggled in from Pakistan via the Valley.

Murdered

NEW DELHI APRIL 6. A 40-year-old man was found murdered in a tailor's shop at Lajpat Nagar in South Delhi today.

According to the police, the body of Mohammad Nasim, who used to work for Aradhana Tailors at Central Market in Lajpat Nagar, was found in the back room of the shop around mid-day. It appeared that Nasim was strangled to death.

Investigations revealed that Nasim used to stay with another fellow worker in the same room. Another worker used to visit them once in a while. Both of them have been missing since the incident came to light. The police said about Rs. 4,000 were also found missing from the room.

Arrested

NEW DELHI APRIL 6. Two persons who allegedly robbed bus and train passengers have been arrested by the Old Delhi railway police. The police recovered 15 kg ganja from their possession.

The accused, Rajkumar and Bham Singh, purportedly told the police that earlier they used to target bus and train passengers.

Nabbed

NEW DELHI APRIL 6. The Crime Branch of the Delhi police has arrested three persons from Jahangirpuri in North-West Delhi on charges of their involvement in robbery cases.

Acting on a tip-off that some criminals would come to Jahangirpuri to commit a crime, a Crime Branch team laid a trap and arrested two of the suspects. They were identified as Islam and Surinder Singh. At their instance, the police arrested their accomplice, Shyam, from Jahangirpuri.
