NEW DELHI, APRIL 6. A large number of Delhi University professors and students leaders have come out in support of the All-India Congress Committee member, Ajit Chadha, for the party ticket to seek election from the South Delhi Lok Sabha constituency. They have petitioned the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, to nominate Mr. Chadha to contest against the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate, Vijay Kumar Malhotra.

At a joint press conference, the students and professors urged Ms. Gandhi to promote entry of literate and respected people into the political mainstream and said Mr. Chadha was best suited for the South Delhi seat.
