Thunderclouds forecast

Thunderclouds are likely to form in parts of the city on Wednesday while the maximum temperature would hover around 36 degree Celsius. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 35.4 degree Celsius and a minimum of 24.8 degree Celsius on Tuesday. The relative humidity stood at 37 per cent.

Governor's message

The Governor, Surjit Singh Barnala, today called for steps to focus attention on prevention of road accidents by organising photo exhibitions and training to drivers to minimise loss to society.

In a message on the eve of World Health Day, he said this year's theme of "road safety is no accident" was appropriate because accidents have become a regular feature on roads.

Summer camp for children

`Grishma Shibiram', a seven-week annual summer camp for school students between three and 15 years of age will commence at the Gandhi Gyan Mandir, Koti, on April 12.

Children will be taught yoga, meditation, dance, music, martial arts, skating, drawing, painting, hypnotism, etc.

Training in computers

A summer camp for imparting computer training to girl students was inaugurated on Tuesday at the Computerised Calligraphy Training Centre for Women on the campus of Moulana Azad Memorial Government Model Junior College for Girls, Nampally.

NIMS trauma care unit

The Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) has proposed to establish an 80-bed ultra modern trauma care unit as part of its upgrading programme to the level of AIIMS.

In a press release issued on the eve of the World Health Day, the NIMS Director, Kakarla Subba Rao, said during the last three months the institute had given concessions to the extent of Rs. 74.24 lakhs to both outpatients and inpatients.

Army chief's visit

The Chief of Army Staff, N.C. Vij, will be visiting the College of Defence Management on Thursday (April 8) to commission the `Workflow and document management system', which is a preliminary phase of the CDM campus-wide network to be implemented in two years time.

Raising Day celebrated

The 58th Raising Day of 1 EME centre was celebrated on Tuesday at its premises in Secunderabad.

Research award given

K.V.S. Ranganath of the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, received the fourth annual Dr. KV Rao Research Award at a function held here recently.

I. Jayakumar of JNTU and M. Sateesh Kumar of NIN were presented Silver trophies.
