Shrenika clinches title
HYDERABAD,
APRIL 7.
Thirteeen-year-old Galande Shrenika clinched the sub-junior National girls singles title in the recently concluded 31st Nationals and inter-State carrom championship in Lucknow on Tuesday.
Shrenika defeated Preethi Yadav of Uttar Pradesh 25-20, 16-25, 25-0 in the final.
Hyderabad secured two bronze medals. Shrenika and Shruthi picked the third place in doubles event while K.S. Anand Reddy of Nagarjuna High School settled for third spot in the cadets' section.
The results (all finals): Sub-junior boys: Santosh Kumar (TN) bt K. Manish (Bihar) 25-13, 25-0. Cadet boys: Md. Adil (UP) bt Roshan (Mah) 25-18, 25-23. Cadet girls: Deepika Sinha (Bihar) bt Surujuli (Bihar) 25-21, 25-16. Girls (doubles): Shamama & Kamna bt Preethi Yadv & U.Khalam 25-1, 25-2.
Team championship: Boys: 1. UP, 2. Vidarbha, 3. Maharashtra.
Girls: 1. Uttar Pradesh, 2. Tamil Nadu, 3. Jharkhand.
