Hat-tricks by Aakash and Hooda

NEW DELHI, APRIL 7. Twin hat-tricks by the strikers of Guru Harkishan Public School (Shahdara) bamboozled the S.S.B. Khalsa Senior Secondary School (Faridkot) as the Delhi school won its group `D' league match with a comfortable 8-0 margin, in the Sahibzada Ajit Singh under-19 hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium here on Wednesday.

Right-winger Aakash and left-out Yogesh Hooda attacked relentlessly as the Shahdara School established control early on. Aakash opened his account with a penalty stroke in the third minute and never let the momentum slip. He slotted in three more goals on way to his hat-trick as the Faridkot boys seemingly gave up.

Hooda converted the third penalty corner his team earned before scoring his second goal through a brilliant field effort, in the 18th minute.

On changing ends, Hooda completed his hat-trick through a penalty corner conversion in the 41st minute. The Faridkot boys held on for a while before Aakash gave the finishing touches with a nice deflection off a long pass, in the 60th minute. — Our Sports Reporter
