Three hurt in clash

VIJAYAWADA, APRIL 7. Three persons were injured, one of them seriously, in a clash among Telugu Desam Party (TDP) workers at Challapalli village in the Avanigadda sub division on Wednesday evening. P. Leela Prasad, who sustained grievous injuries, was admitted to a private hospital in Vijayawada.

According to the Avanigadda DSP, K. Satyanarayana, the two groups participating in the rally taken out in support of the TDP's Nidomulu nominee, U. Kalpana, clashed with knives and rods following some differences. Leela Prasad sustained knife injuries. Subba Rao and Chanti belonging to the rival group were also injured. They were shifted to the Bandar Government Hospital.

Mr. Satyanarayana said a case under Section 307 IPC (attempt to murder) was registered against the two groups. However, no arrests have been made.

Body found

The Vijayawada Railway police on Wednesday, shifted the body of a 23-year old woman K. Simhadhramma, who was found murdered on the railway tracks at Satyanarayanpuram. The victim, the estranged wife of one Srinivas Rao, a casual labourer, was found dead on the tracks with her head smashed with a blunt weapon. The Railway Police Sub Inspector, Krishna Rao, is investigating.
