RWF, SR enter quarterfinals

BANGALORE, APRIL 8. An all-round show by S.R. Deepu (three for 26 & 43) helped host Rail Wheel Factory (RWF) beat Southern Railway (SR) by five wickets and enter the quarterfinals of the All-India Inter-Railway cricket championship at the RWF grounds here on Thursday.

RWF topped the six-team league (preliminary phase) with 15 points. Southern Railway also qualified for the quarterfinals with 12 points.

The Rail Wheel Factory will meet Central Railway in the quarterfinal match at Nagpur while Southern Railway will take on West Central Railway here. Both the matches will be played on April 12 and 13.

The scores:

Southern Railway 165 (Raghunathan 35, Sudhakaran 33, S.R. Deepu three for 26) lost to Rail Wheel Factory 167 for five in 17.1 overs (M.Vinod 35, Yere Goud 37, S.R. Deepu 43).

North Western Railway 216 (Devakinandan 38, Anil 35, Kashinath three for 47) beat South Western Railway 187 in 44.4 overs (Madan 43, Anand 36, Devakinandan three for 35, A. Khan three for 23 ).
