Sir, The strong uprising of the Shias against the occupational forces in Iraq shows that the U.S. forces are not in a position to cope with the charged situation there. It is doubtful whether after the transfer of sovereignty to Iraq by the U.S., it will ever be peaceful and united. If the purpose of the war, among other things, was to bring democracy to Iraq as often stated by the U.S., it is imperative that the occupation forces address and accommodate the grievances and aspirations of the Iraqis through peaceful talks.
