Muthu, Shruke take titles

COIMBATORE, APRIL 8. S. Muthu Krishnan of Sarvajana HSS and R.K. Shruke of Avinashilingam claimed the under-19 boys' and girls' titles respectively in the district selection chess championship organised by the Coimbatore District Chess Association at the Kovai Kids Chess Academy here.

The top five boys and top four girls have been selected for the 18th Tamil Nadu State under-19 championship to be held at Karur from April 19 to 26.

Final standings:

Under-19 boys: S. Muthu Krishnan (Sarvajana HSS) 3.5; S. Guru Prasad (SBOA) 3; S. Anand (Sarvajana HSS) 3; Srinath Suresh (Bharathi Matric) 3; A. Arun Kumar (PSG Tech) 2.5.

Girls: R.K. Shruke (Avinashilingam) 4; S. Surekha (Bharathi Matric) 3; M. Akila (Ramalinga Chettiar) 2; S. Srinidhi (Kendriya Vidyalaya) 1; E. Dharshini (St. Joseph's) 0.
