Mild snowfall along with strong winds lashed the higher reaches of Kumaon and Garhwal Himalayas plummeting the soaring temperature by six to eight degrees in the region, according to Met Department director, Anand Sharma. The hilly and plain areas including capital Dehra Dun received thundershowers with high-speed winds bringing a sharp fall in temperature. The temperature, which measured at 24.8 degree C at 8.30 this morning, plunged to 18.8 degrees by 10.30, Mr. Sharma said. A report from Gopeshwar, the district headquarters of Chamoli, said snow has been reported in high-altitude areas including Kedarnath, Badrinath, Hemkund-Saheb, Kamet, Barahoti, Chaukhambah and Nandadevi. Rain accompanied by hailstorm lashed most areas in Chamoli district. SHIMLA: In Himachal Pradesh, Shimla and its surrounding areas were lashed by a hailstorm followed by sharp showers this morning.
