The Hindu Trophy from today
VISAKHAPATNAM,
APRIL 8.
The Hindu Trophy cricket tournament has entered its 11th year. This edition will be held from April 9 to 18 with as many as 16 top teams of the city, both from institutions and clubs, participating in it.
Metro CC had won the attractive silver trophy five times, including last season. Visakhapatnam Port Sports Council (VPSC) finished runner-up.
The Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association (VDCA) is organising the limited-over tournament on behalf of The Hindu.
The prize money for the tournament is Rs. 10,000 for the winner and Rs. 5,000 for the runner-up, according to the Chief of Bureau of The Hindu, R. Sampath, here on Thursday. The Sportstar `Player of the Tournament' carries a cash prize of Rs. 1,000. There are special prizes for the best individual performance in batting, bowling and for the best all-rounder.
The matches will be held at the ACA-VDCA Stadium, the Ukku Stadium, the Zinc Stadium and the Port Stadium.
