Spurious liquor seized, one held

PONDICHERRY, APRIL 8. Excise officials today seized spurious liquor worth Rs. 2 lakhs from the premises of a private industrial unit here.

One person was taken into custody for interrogation.

The Deputy Commissioner, R. Anbalagan, told newspersons that on suspicion, a team conducted a raid that lead to the detection of cases containing the bottles.

Containers with rectified spirit and other packaging material were also seized.

The Collector, Candavelou, visited the spot. Details on the ownership of the premises and the leaseholder were being collected.
