SRINAGAR, APRIL 8. The Army today shot dead the head of the military operations of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad, Qari Mohammed Asif, codenamed Sehrai Baba, and four other top militants of the outfit in an encounter in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. Baba, who took over the reins of the Jaish after the killing of Gazi Baba, the brain behind the Parliament House attack, was shot dead along with his deputy Irfan, district commander Zubair, and close associates, Mawai and Ali Sheikh, at Sheikhnear-Surigam village of Sogam, 101 km from here, sources said.
