PALAKKAD, APRIL 8. The Public Interest Forum here has urged the District Collectors of Palakkad and Thrissur to take steps to prevent the use of banned firework items during the Nemmara-Vallangi Vela in Palakkad and the Thrissur Pooram. In letters sent to the District Collectors today, the Forum secretary, V. K. Venkatachalam, said unscientific handling and use of fire works for religious and temple festivals had resulted in the death of six persons in Palakkad district during the last one week. During the same period fire works related accidents occurred at Ethanur, Kuzhalmannam and Muthalamada in which six persons including to women died of burns injury. Three children were also seriously injured in these accidents.
