Streak planning legal action

HARARE: Former cricket captain Heath Streak said he was considering legal action against the Zimbabwe Cricket Union in a bid to be reinstated. ``Legal action is certainly an option for me,'' he said in a telephonic interview with The Associated Press after an unsuccessful meeting with union board members in the capital, Harare. ``It is one of many things to consider over the next few days.''

Streak, backed by senior team-mates, spent more than five hours behind closed doors with ZCU chairman Peter Chingoka and other board members. But the union refused to reverse its decision.

``This has been a very disappointing week for me, and I have seen some very angry and volatile people in authority here,'' Streak said before returning to his ranch, near the western city of Bulawayo, on Friday.

According to the Zimbabwe Cricket Union board, Streak gave it an ultimatum last week to restructure the national selection panel or he would quit. The board rejected his demands and said Streak had resigned from playing at all levels in the country.
