Temperature

TIRUCHI, APRIL 9 . The City today registered a maximum temperature of 39.0 degree Celsius and a minimum of 24.1 degree Celsius.

Passports issued

The Passport Office here issued 25,080 passports and rendered service to 1,555 miscellaneous applications in March.

According to Passport Officer, A. Pandurangan, a total of 20,488 applications were received for fresh, duplicate and renewal (re-issue) of passports and 1,598 for miscellaneous services.

Passports under Tatkal scheme were easily available provided all necessary documents were attached along with the Tatkal fee, he said in a statement. In case of complaint/ delay in issue of passports, the applicants may contact the office over the phone numbers 2707203, 2707404 or 2707605.

Book exhibition

The District Central Library Readers' Forum, in association with the Sathyam Trust, will organise an exclusive book exhibition for women between April 12 and 18 on the library premises to create an awareness of women related issued among students, according to A.P. Sivakumar, District Library Officer and R. Anantha Krishnan, Managing Trustee, Sathyam Trust.

EVM demo

The officials conducted a demonstration of the electronic voting machines for the benefit of the locals of the Mathur Sokalingapuram, Anna Nagar, Kumaramangalam areas on Tueday. The officials clarified various doubts raised by the people.

Mettur level

Water level at the Mettur reservoir stood at 24.50 feet today. The inflow was 414 cusecs and discharge nil.
