Inflation inches up to 4.47 p.c.
NEW DELHIL,
APRIL 9.
Costlier foods, electricity and manufactured products pushed up inflation to 4.47 per cent for the week ended March 27, but 2003-04 ended on a positive note with the price level being contained at 4-4.5 per cent as has been estimated by the government. The point-to-point Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation rose by 0.17 per cent from the previous week's level of 4.3 per cent. However, inflation averaged around 5.18 per cent for the fiscal 2003-04. The price level was as high as 6.49 per cent during the previous year period.
The WPI rose by 0.3 per cent to 180 points with all the major indices of primary, fuels and manufactured products moving up.
