HYDERABAD: The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has adopted a new Vision and Mission statement keeping in view four key developments in corporation world-corporate governance, technology, globalisation and public private partnership. The vision is about global positioning, benchmarking and best practices, according to Mahesh Anant Athavale, President, ICSI. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he said in order to bring global recognition to the profession of company secretaries, ICSI was working to establish a Federation of Institutes of Company Secretaries worldwide. The ICSI has taken the lead and convened a meeting in July. Response from countries such as Pakistan and Bangladesh was positive, and he was hopeful some progress would be made on this count. He noted with satisfaction positive developments such as practicing company secretaries being permitted to have partnership with chartered accountants to offer multi-disciplinary facilities, and the National Company Law Tribunal which will have the powers of the BIFR.
