CM woos women, Singareni miners

By Our Correspondent

ADILABAD, APRIL 9. In his first election meeting at Bellampalli town and Koutala mandal head quarters village in Adilabad district, the TDP president and Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, appealed to women and Singareni miners to vote for the TDP even while coming down heavily on the Congress-Telangana Rashtra Samiti-Left combine and the naxalites.

Addressing the gathering comprising large number of women at both the places, the TDP president exhorted women to `come up politically'. He said this would instill self confidence among the women.

Talking about women empowerment, Mr. Naidu said one woman in every family would be enrolled in respective Dwcra groups. The membership would enable her to earn at least Rs. 5,000 per month. This was the aim of the TDP, he added.

Seeking their votes, the TDP president said in the event of National Democratic Alliance returning to power at the Centre, the long pending Bill relating to 33 per cent reservations to women would be introduced. "Even if the Bill does not get introduced, I will implement the reservation here," he assured.

Asking for the support of Singareni miners , Mr. Naidu said it was only after the TDP came to power that the Singareni Collieries Company Limited came out of the red. At present the miners were even getting a high bonus, he pointed out. He said the new open cast mines at Khairguda in Tiryani mandal would open employment for 5,000 persons.

TDP Lok Sabh candidate for Adilabad Dr. S. Venugopalachary, MLA candidate for Asifabad (ST) Assembly seat Dr. Sridevi Rajeshwar and MLA candidate for Sirpur Assembly seat Palvai Rajyalaxmi, MLA candidate for Chennur Assembly seat Boda Janardhan and TDP district president Arigela Nageshwar Rao attended the meetings among others. Earlier, Mr. naidu arrived at the coal town of Bellampalli about 1.45 minutes late than the scheduled 11 am.
