Tjiptawan enters final

TOKYO, APRIL 10. Mia Audina Tjiptawan of the Netherlands defeated China's Zhou Mi on Saturday to advance to the finals of the Yonex Open badminton tournament.

Tjiptawan, the tournament's fourth-seeded player, posted an 11-4, 2-11, 11-4 victory over Zhou at Yoyogi Gymnasium and will meet China's Gong Ruina in Sunday's final. Gong defeated compatriot Zhang Ning 11-0, 11-6 in the other semifinal.

In the men's event, Singapore's Ronald Susilo registered a hard-fought 13-15, 15-10, 15-11 victory over South Korea's Park Tae-sang. China's Chunlai Bao defeated compatriot Lin Dan 15-13, 15-10 in the other men's semifinal. — AP
