CUDDAPAH, APRIL 10. The Cuddapah Intellectuals Forum president, M. Vivekananda Reddy, on Saturday warned of an intensive post-election agitation if TDP or Congress leaders failed to initiate steps to resolve problems confronting the district within four months of their election to the Assembly. In a novel way to put forth vital problems and demands to contesting candidates, Mr. Vivekananda Reddy, the Director of Pushpagiri Schools, organised an interaction of intellectuals with the former MLA and TDP candidate, K. Sivananda Reddy and the Cuddapah Municipal Chairman and Congress candidate, Md. Ahmedullah, here. The demands included completion of irrigation projects and the second phase of Rayalaseema Thermal Power Plant at Kalamalla, setting up a major mineral-based industry using barytes and asbestos and constructing high-level bridges in place of low-level causeways. Mr. Sivananda Reddy promised steps to resolve the said issues within a year, if he was elected to the Assembly. He assured them of striving for completion of irrigation projects and construction of high-level bridges at Ravindranagar and Balajinagar in Cuddapah town. Mr. Ahmedullah asserted that the pending irrigation projects would be completed if the Congress regained power and the former CLP leader, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, becomes Chief Minister. He assured them of striving for development of the constituency, and particularly augmentation of irrigation and drinking water facilities. Mr. Vivekananda Reddy said he was withdrawing his nomination as independent for the Cuddapah Assembly segment as the main contestants promised solution to problems.
