Serves legal notice on Jaleel Khan
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD,
APRIL 10.
The APCC president, D. Srinivas, has served a legal notice on the former Congress MLA, Jaleel Khan, warning him of civil and criminal proceedings for the outbursts against him. Mr. Srinivas had earlier warned Mr. Khan of the development in view of the latter's insinuations against him. Mr. Khan has been claiming that he had given money for the party ticket to Mr. Srinivas, but was deprived of the same.
The notice stated that the former MLA was involved in some business transactions of the APCC president's son who was running an electronic goods shop at Vijayawada. Mr. Khan had only repaid the money but had not given any amount for the sake of the ticket, it asserted. Mr. Srinivas said Mr. Khan had tarnished not only his image but also that of the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, by levelling similar charges against her. Terming the allegations false and fabricated, he said that the former MLA was displaying a vindictive attitude because he was deprived of the ticket.
Demanding retraction of the allegations through the media and apology, he said if the former MLA did not stop the tirade, he would be forced to go ahead with libel suit.
