BANGALORE, APRIL 10. The D.J. Halli police took into custody two youths who were allegedly moving in a suspicious manner at the campaign office of the Congress at Kavalbyrasandra when the party's candidate, B. Prasanna Kumar, was inaugurating the office on Friday night. They were reportedly carrying knives. The party workers took them to the police station. The youths - identified as Lokesh and Balaji - claimed that they had come there to collect money for a chit fund. But Mr. Prasanna Kumar lodged a complaint with the police that they had come there to assault him. The police have taken up a case under Section 506 of Indian Penal Code (causing threat to life).
Banners set afire
A few pro-Kannada activists allegedly set fire to banners of the Janata Dal (Secular) in protest against the party candidate for Gandhinagar, Nagaraj, reportedly speaking in Hindi during campaigning on Saturday.
