Well done pat for Madurai players

MADURAI, APRIL 11. Four Madurai players — D. Shiny Gifta Sharan, D. Shirlie Gemlin Sarah, M. Kanagadhara and V. Srividya — who represented Tamil Nadu in the 31st sub-junior National and inter-State carrom championship at Lucknow and won the silver in the girls' team event were felicitated at a function organised by the Madurai District Carrom Association at Victoria Edward Hall here on Saturday.

Two other Madurai players, D. Sriram — fourth in cadet boys (under-12) singles — and K. Andrea Benetta Gladys — fourth in cadet girls singles — were also felicitated.

I. Ismail, patron of the Association and secretary of Victoria Edward Hall, who presided over the function, congratulated the players as well as the coach Saminath Babu and manager of the team A. Lingaraj Kannan.

He announced that Victoria Edward Hall would give cash incentives of Rs. 2,000 each during the Founder's Day celebration in May to the four girls. Ismail said that permission would be given to the Association to conduct a summer coaching camp at the Victoria Edward Hall.

Lingaraj Kannan, Joint Secretary, welcomed the gathering. Syed Abudhahir another joint secretary, felicitated. Saminath Babu, Secretary, proposed a vote of thanks.
