Leblanc praises Cofidis' decision

PARIS, APRIL 11. Tour de France director Jean-Marie Leblanc praised Cofidis' decision to pull its team from the Paris-Roubaix race in reaction to doping allegations by a former rider.

Leblanc said in an interview published on Saturday that Cofidis made the right choice to abandon the gruelling one-day race, but added it was too soon to decide whether it would still compete in July's showcase Tour de France.

``It's a wise decision, given the circumstances,'' Leblanc told sports daily L'Equipe.

``Cofidis needs to think about what they represent, their preparation methods.

"They need to find those responsible and no doubt impose punishments.''

A Cofidis team official had said that the team will not compete in any race ``until further orders.''
