State sub-junior basketball championship

KURIANOOR, APRIL 11. The 31st State sub-junior basketball championship will get underway at the MTHS floodlit basketball court on Monday. Fourteen teams will take part in the boys' section while 10 teams will vie for top honours in the girls' section.

The five-day tournament will be conducted on a league-cum-knock-out basis. The semifinals will be held on April 15 and finals will be played on April 16.

The groupings:

Boys: Pool `A': Ernakulam, Wayanad and Kasargode. Pool `B': Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta. Pool `C': Kannur, Kottayam, Kozhikode and Palakkad. Pool `D': Thrissur, Malappuram, Kollam and Idukki.

Girls: Pool `A': Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kollam. Pool `B': Kottayam, Thrissur and Pathanamthitta. Pool `C': Kozhikode, Kannur, Wayanad and Kasargode.
