Slow pace of campaign worries Karunakaran

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 11 . The senior Congress leader, K. Karunakaran, today expressed concern at the slow pace of election work by the party in the State.

Addressing a meeting, organised by the DCC in commemoration of former district party president, the late Kavyad Divakara Panicker, he said that the Congress had so far not been able to activate the campaign machinery as the leading component of the ruling UDF coalition.

Calling upon party workers to gear up the campaign machinery, the senior leader said that the UDF was in a position to win most seats, if the inertia in the election work was overcome without delay.

Hinting that the party was facing a triangular fight in Thiruvananthapuram, with the BJP trying its level best to make an electoral breakthrough, Mr. Karunakaran said the saffron party should not be allowed to win in the State.

The former KPCC chief, Thennala Balakrishna Pillai, the Ministers, G. Karthikeyan and M.M. Hassan, were also present. - PTI
