ACGWA has it easy

HYDERABAD, APRIL 11. AC Guards Welfare Association (ACGWA) recorded a comfortable 8-4 win over Young Turks in the A-1 division hockey league championship match at Begumpet Police Stadium here on Sunday.

AC Guards shot into lead in the fifth minute through winger Syed Abdul Aziz's fine solo effort. Within five minutes, it was 2-0 thanks to a good effort from Sk. Amer. Young Turks fought back well to reduce the margin through S.M. Sharief in the 13th minute only to see AC Guards increase the lead again through Abdul Hannan. Within four minutes, Sk. Amer converted a penalty-corner and was in the thick of scoring within seven minutes to give AC Guards a 5-1 lead. Just before the break, Young Turks again reduced the margin through G. Sailesh Kumar.

But on resumption, AC Guards continued to dominate with Hannan striking twice and Sk. Amir once to complete the tally while S. Kiran and Junjar Singh, who converted a `stroke' completed the tally for Young Turks.
