NIZAMABAD, APRIL 11. The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president, D. Srinivas, on Sunday toured Nizamabad town extensively as part of the election campaign and urged voters to support the Congress. Travelling in an open top jeep, Mr. Srinivas passed through Varni road, Suryanagar, Rajarajendra cross roads and Shivajinagar waving to the crowd and seeking their support. The campaign of Mr. Srinivas evoked good response in the town. The PCC chief later went to Gupanpalli to attend TRS workers' meeting organised by the TRS secretary, Mukka Devender Gupta. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Srinivas took exception to the remarks made by the TRS district chief, A.S. Poshetty, that Congress candidates were not inviting them to join the campaign. The TRS district chief at a press conference earlier accused Congress leaders of neglecting the TRS cadre and said that if the latter lost the elections, the former would not own any responsibility. Mr. Srinivas said that it was the duty of both party leaders to coordinate the campaign and ensure that there were no irritants. He said it was the responsibility of both party leaders to take the support of all and ensure victory of the candidates of two parties. The meeting was attended by the Nizamabad Congress Lok Sabha candidate, Madhu Yaskhi. The PCC chief said that the Congress was committed to free power and would ensure all-round development of the State. He said the Congress-TRS combine would sweep the elections in Telangana and the party prospects were bright in other regions. He said the Congress would return to power as people were eager to oust the corrupt TDP Government. Earlier, Mr. Srinivas, accompanied by Mr. Madhu Yaskhi, visited the CSI church in Kanteswar and greeted Christians on the occasion of Easter. He spent some time in the church and addressed the gathering.
