CHENNAI, APRIL 11. Two passengers on the Mumbai-Chennai Mail on Sunday fell victim to the biscuit bandit. According to the Railway police, Venkataramana Acharya (62) of Chinnamannur and his relative, Prema (52) of Karur, were found unconscious in the S-9 compartment by the cleaning staff at the Central Station. They were admitted to the Government General Hospital. The victims later told police that a youth in their compartment offered them bananas and bottled drink on Saturday evening. The incident occurred near Gulbarga station in Karnataka. He escaped with a demand draft of Rs. 1 lakh, seven sovereigns of jewellery, Rs. 4,700 in cash and four silk sarees. The Railway police said a case would be registered with the Gulbarga railway police.
