HYDERABAD, APRIL 11. In an interesting development, the former Minister, C. Krishna Yadav, now lodged in a Pune jail, has sought the blessings of the TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, in his fight as an Independent candidate from the Himayatnagar Assembly constituency. In a letter addressed to Mr. Naidu on Sunday, Mr. Yadav said he was contesting as an Independent under unavoidable circumstances and had no intention either to defy the TDP chief or the party. Asserting that he had no involvement in the fake stamp paper scam, the former MLA said one had to either hail from a political family or have large amounts of money. As a person belonging to a backward family with neither of these advantages, he was falsely implicated in the case, Mr. Yadav charged. He said he did not know Abdul Kareem Telgi, prime accused in the stamp scam, nor had he ever met him. Pleading innocence, Mr. Yadav said he had cooperated with the police as he had complete faith in the democratic process, which would ensure that he would come out unscathed. Although the party had expelled him, Mr. Yadav said he was not contesting as a rebel. "I, therefore, seek your blessings," he said. The four-page letter written by Mr. Yadav was handed over by his advocate, Rupender Reddy, to the TDP leader, P. Prabhakar Reddy, at NTR Bhavan.
