MADURAI, APRIL 11 . The city today registered a maximum temperature of 38 degree Celsius and a minimum of 26.2 degree Celsius.

Commits suicide
The police said R. Ramesh (18) was found hanging from the ceiling of his house.
Youth stabs girl
The police said G. Kannan (25) of Jaihindpuram forced his way into the house of R. Vasantha Kumari (14) and stabbed her. He also attacked her father, K. Radhakrishnan (40) and one of her relatives, when they tried to intervene. However, Kannan was injured seriously, when the girl's family members and neighbours roughed him up. The motive was not known. The injured were admitted to the Government Rajaji Hospital.
`Surrender weapons'
An official release said the licensees should obtain a receipt from the police station after depositing the weapons, which would be returned a week after the results were declared. Action would be taken against those violating the order, the release said.
