Isolated rain

CHENNAI, APRIL 12. Rainfall occurred at a few places over Kerala. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu and Coastal Andhra Pradesh and dry weather prevailed over Rayalaseema, Telangana, Lakshadweep and Karnataka.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimetres are:

Alapuzha and Kottayam 3 each, Mancompu and Cherthala (both Alapuzha dt.) 2 each, Cheranmadevi (Tirunelveli dt.), Eraniel (Kanyakumari dt.), Punalur, Manjeri (Malapuram dt.), Aluva (Ernakulam dt.), Varkala (Tiruvananthapuram dt.) and Arakuvelly (Visakhapatnam dt.) 1 each.

On Sunday, the maximum temperature rose at one or two places over coastal and north interior Karnataka and changed a little elsewhere over the region.

They were appreciably above normal at one or two places over coastal Tamilnadu, coastal Karnataka, Kerala, above normal at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, north interior Karnataka, the rest of Tamil Nadu, at one or two places in the rest of Kerala, the rest of coastal Karnataka, south interior Karnataka, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and were generally normal over rest of the region.

Rentachintala, Kurnool, Nandyal and Bijapur recorded the highest maximum temperature of 41 degree Celsius in the region.

FORECAST (Valid until Wednesday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over south Kerala. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, north Kerala, southern parts of Lakshadweep and interior Karnataka.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over Andhra Pradesh, northern parts of Lakshadweep and coastal Karnataka.
