Multi-cornered contests in Chikmagalur

CHIKMAGALUR, APRIL 12. There will be multi-cornered contests in all the Assembly constituencies in Chikmagalur district.

The Congress, the BJP and the Janata Dal (S) are contesting in all the six seats. The Communist Party of India (CPI), the Janata Party, the Kannada Nadu, the Urs Samyukta Paksha and the Bahujan Samaj Party have also fielded their candidates.

The candidates contesting the Assembly elections are:

Chikmagalur — Kumaraswamy K.E. (Janata Dal-S), C.T. Ravi (BJP), C.R. Sageer Ahmed (Congress), K.P. Nagesh (Janata Party).

Sringeri: K.M. Gopal (Bahujan Samaj Party), D.B. Chandre Gowda (Congress), D.N. Jeevaraj (BJP), H.T. Rajendra (Janata Dal-S), K.J. Ramananda (Kannada Nadu Party).

Mudigere: M.P. Kumaraswamy (BJP), B.B. Ningaiah (Janata Dal-S), Motamma (Congress), S. Sundaresh (CPI), Krishna N.S. (Kannada Nadu), B.M. Ramesh (independent).

Birur: Dharme Gowda S.L. (Janata Dal-S), Mallikarjuna K.B. (Congress), Rekha Huliyappagowda (BJP), Devaraj N. (Janata Party), Nagaraj P. (Kannada Nadu), Swamy M.B. (Urs Samyukta Paksha), Kantharaju and Mallesh Rao (independents).

Kadur: Kariappa M.M. (BJP), Krishnamurthy K.M. (Janata Dal-S), Marulasiddappa (Congress), Aanuradha (Janata Party).

Tarikere: Onkarappa H. (BJP), S.K. Nagaraju (Janata Dal-S), T.H. Shivashankarappa (Congress), A.S. Eswarappa (Janata Party), K.N. Dinesh (Kannada Nadu), Rajkumar A.B. (independent).
