Emirates Airline's investment plans
HYDERABAD: Emirates Airline considers India as one of the most profitable destinations. It sees lot of opportunities for promoting tourists to India, says Abdulla Nasser Abdulla Hussain, Vice-President for India and Nepal, who has taken over recently. It operates 42 flights between Dubai and five destinations in India Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kochi and boasts of a 75 per cent occupancy ratio. The airline now has a fleet (global) of 66, which is projected at 100 by 2010. Mr. Hussain said it was investing $1.8 billion in reinventing longhaul travel with a series of innovations to tempt tourists to try its new fleet of Airbus A340-500s. Its `mood lighting' creates an image of night sky on the ceiling panels above passengers' heads. This, he says, helps combat side effects of long travel by mimicking night time. But India will have to wait for some time to get such flights.
