BHEL achieves all time high PLF
NEW DELHI: Power generating sets built by the public sector Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) have achieved an all time high plant load factor (PLF) of 74.2 per cent during 2003-04. This is 2.6 per cent higher than the national average. According to a company release, operating availability (OA) of these sets was also the highest ever at 83.9 per cent.
Consistently registering a high PLF and OA, these thermal sets generated a record 318.6 billion units of power during the year. This constituted 80.2 per cent of the country's total thermal power generation and contributed substantially in narrowing the gap between demand and supply of power.
Lauding the performance of 500 MW Dahanu Thermal Power Station equipped with two BHEL-built units of 250 MW each, a Reliance Energy officials said these units registered a record PLF of 100.34 per cent and OA of 96.84 per cent fiscal 2003-04.
