TIRUPATI, APRIL 12. The Additional DG of Police and observer for election bandobus, Aravinda Rao, reviewed arrangements made for the ensuing polls at a closed-door meeting with police officials here on Monday. He advised the police to keep a watch on suspicious elements and act strategically to see that the elections are concluded on a peaceful note. Apart from bind over of notorious elements, the top official stressed on steps to keep fake voters off the vicinity of poll booths, as their presence could lead to friction. The DIG (Anantapur range), Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, the district SP, M.V. Ramachandra Raju, and the Additional SP (Tirupati), S. Ashok Kumar, were among the officials present.
Book released
Mr. Ramachandra Raju, later released a book `Abhayam' dealing naxalite targets (those on hit lists) and precautions to be taken during daily activities, especially during campaigning. The book, meant to be distributed in naxal-infested pockets of the district, asks targeted politicians not to crumble under fear and get demoralised, but face the challenge by following the tips provided. Tips have also been given to the targets' gunmen.
