VISAKHAPATNAM, APRIL 12. The TNTUC State president, P. Ramamohana Rao, on Monday said that the working class would vote for the Telugu Desam Party due to the welfare schemes implemented by the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, during the last nine years. Addressing a press conference here, he said that the Left parties had tied up with the Congress due to threat to their existence. He said Mr. Naidu was credited with increasing the minimum wages to Rs. 2,300 and registering a record number of 1.60 lakh employers as per the labour laws. Mr. Rao said that the TDP Government's initiative had helped the public sector Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) and the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) make a turnaround. The VSP and the SCCL had earned profits and were planning to expand their capacity due to the support and encouragement extended by the State Government, he pointed out.
