BANGALORE, APRIL 12. The Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), S.M. Datta, has asked the IIMB Society comprising board members and a few additional members, to decide on the fee cut, reliable sources said here on Monday. Mr. Datta, who was asked by the Board last month to draft a resolution incorporating the views of all members on the Board, now felt the society was better placed to take a decision on whether the institute should cut the fees as demanded by the Ministry for Human Resources Development. The society was expected to meet in early May, sources said. Meanwhile, S.N. Agarwal, Chairman of the Bhoruka group of industries and a member of the Board said, "In the last meeting of the Board of Governors of the IIMB, we had decided that the fees would not be cut." Asked if Mr. Datta had been authorised to take a decision by himself, Mr. Agarwal said "he (Mr. Dutta) was requested to draft the resolution incorporating the views of every member on the Board, including those of the government nominees. This resolution will help in presenting the IIMB's position to the Government."
