This Day That Age
The new eight-man Madras Cabinet, headed by Mr. K. Kamaraj Nadar, was sworn-in on April 13 by Mr. Sri Prakasa, the Governor, in the Cabinet room of the Secretariat. The strength of the Ministry will, it is learnt, be increased to nine shortly, by the appointment of a member from Malabar district, and the choice is expected to be finalised very soon. The eight Ministers who took office are: Mr. K. Kamaraj Nadar, Mr. A.B. Shetty, Mr. M. Bhaktavatsalam, Mr. C. Subramaniam, Mr. M.A. Manickavelu Naicker, Mr. Shanmuga Rajeswara Setupati, Raja of Ramnad, Mr. B. Parameswaran and Mr. S.S. Ramaswami Padayachi. Later talking to reporters, Mr. Kamaraj Nadar said he would shortly resign his membership of Parliament and seek election to the Madras Assembly.
