This Day That Age
The question of MPs' salary and allowances has been finally settled, and a resolution will be moved during the current session of Parliament to give effect to the decision, it is learnt. It is decided that the members can draw a fixed salary of Rs.300 a month, plus a daily allowance of Rs.20 per sitting attended, or a daily allowance of Rs.40 during the session as at present given to members. Members will have the freedom to opt for either of the two scales. As regards travelling allowances, it has been decided to sanction to members two second-class and one third class tickets.
