It is now authoritatively made known in Colombo that Sir Oliver Goonatileke, Finance Minister, has been appointed Governor-General of Ceylon in succession to Lord Soulbury, who will retire next month. Intimation of Sir Oliver's appointment, according to a local report, came from London on April 13 and an official announcement is to be made by Queen Elizabeth on April 21, her official birthday and the day of her departure from the island.
