Intel to expand Bangalore centre

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, APRIL 13. Intel Corp., the global microprocessor giant, is planning to expand its Bangalore development centre to work on more next generation products. The first building of the new campus with a capacity of 1,000 people was almost ready and would be operational in the next six months, said RK Amar Babu, Intel's South Asia Director (Sales and Marketing). It is also planning to introduce digital home computers in the Indian market soon. "We are talking to the vendors including local and multinational corporations to roll out home PCs to give users digital experience in entertainment, communication and learning," said William Sui, Intel's Vice-President and General Manager (Desktop Platform Group) here on Tuesday.

Noting that India was a strategic market for them, he said the digital home computers would be based on Intel technology and they were looking at investing in local companies for developing products for the segment."Digital home technology is an opportunity for Indian companies as they can participate in the `ecosystem' through application development and content."
