TDP complains to EC against TRS chief

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, APRIL 13. The Telugu Desam Party has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against the language used by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, while referring to the TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The party spokespersons — C. Ramachandraiah and A.V. Subramanyam — told reporters here today that Mr. Rao's criticism had taken the shape of personal attack against the head of a majority party who was also the Chief Minister. The spokespersons said the comments made by Mr. Rao were `quite libellous in nature and amounted to character assassination' and hence went against the model code of conduct of the commission.

In the TDP's letter to the Chief Electoral Officer, which was circulated to the press, the party alleged that the TRS leader had been calling Mr. Naidu and the Home Minister, T. Devender Goud, all sorts of names. The TDP leaders also targeted the Congress leader, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
