Kannur boys score easy wins

KURIANOOR, APRIL 13. Kannur boys scored two wins in the 31st State sub-junior basketball championships at the MTHS floodlit courts here on Tuesday. Kannur thrashed host Kottayam 27-4 and later whipped Kozhikode 26-8 to improve its chances of qualifying from Pool `C'.

In the girl's section, Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Kasargod and Kozhikode registered easy victories.

The results:

Boys: Pool `B': Thiruvananthapuram 29 (Bishiksh 6, Mahesh 5) bt Pathanamthitta 15.

Pool `C': Kottayam 28 (Victor Jose 14, Christin Prince 6) bt Kozhikode 2; Kannur 27 (Renjith M. George 6, Lijo Mathew 6) bt Kottayam 4; Kannur 26 (Unnithan 8) bt Kozhikode 8 (Sachin Babu 6).

Pool `D': Kasargod 31 (Anil Joseph 10) bt Wayanad 7; Thrissur 27 (Anson Krishna 10) bt Idukki 5; Malappuram 26 (Advaith Krishna 8, Jithin 8) bt Kollam 5.

Girls: Pool `A': Thiruvananthapuram 29 (Makesha 5, Bismikesha 4) bt Pathanamthitta 15; Ernakulam 17 (Avelyn Maria 10) bt Kollam 10 (Akhila Nath 6).

Pool `B': Kottayam 12 (Shiji Joseph 7) bt Kollam 4.

Pool `C': Kasargod 20 (Swetha 10) bt Wayanad 8; Kozhikode 22 (Manjusha Mohan 7) bt Kannur 11).
