Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, APRIL 13. The police today registered cases against two groups on the basis of complaints received from them yesterday at the Tirukanoor station in the Mannadipet Assembly constituency. No one was arrested so far. Sources said supporters of a candidate from Karaikal seeking to contest as an Independent in the Pondicherry Lok Sabha seat were allegedly driven away when they approached some Congress volunteers in a hamlet in the Mannadipet constituency for their support. One of the supporters allegedly sustained injuries. A vehicle of the Independent being used by his supporters was allegedly damaged. A group of persons belonging to local units of parties constituting the Democratic Progressive Alliance staged a demonstration at the police station and sought action against the Independent and his supporters. Meanwhile, the Independent candidate, along with his supporters, filed a complaint against those who allegedly attacked the driver of his vehicle.
