IDUKKI, APRIL 13. Notwithstanding the summer rain, the water level in the Idukki reservoir remained less than the level in the corresponding period of last year. The water level is 2,316 ft, about nine feet less than the last year level. About 4,360 lakh unit electricity could be generated from 10,468 million cubic feet water at present, Kerala State Electricity Board sources said here today. About 35 lakh units of electricity was being generated per day here, they said. However, 18,957 mcf could not be used for power generation under the present technical conditions. Hence, the Board had been urged by various groups to use the entire water to meet the rising requirements, they added. - UNI
