COIMBATORE, APRIL 13 . The NCC Coimbatore Group is launching a website, www.kovaincc.org, on Wednesday. The Training Officer, Lt. Col. S. Muralidharan, told The Hindu that the purpose of the website was to provide a forum for all cadets, associated NCC officers, educational institutions and the public to exchange information about defence services in general and NCC activities in particular. Dr. Mahalingam College of Technology had offered to provide the necessary technical support for the design and subsequent maintenance of the website in collaboration with the ABT info .net, Coimbatore. As students are the target segment for the website, a group of IT-savvy cadets from among the 20,000-odd cadets under the group headquarters would take over the maintenance and development of the site, Muralidharan said. The site would contain information on NCC, its units in Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and the Nilgiris districts. Information on raising new sub-units, procedure for enrolment of cadets, forthcoming activities of the group, guidance for career in Armed Forces, news on scholarships and other incentives available to cadets, guidance and model question papers for certificate examination can be obtained. The website would have various forms for download and would also have a gallery with photographs of outstanding cadets. Alumni are welcome to register themselves at the site. The website would be formally launched at a function at the Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology at Pollachi.
