VISAKHAPATNAM, APRIL 13. The Vijayawada-based Kalanikethan is planning to set up a chain of malls in South India, its managing partner, V. Rajendra Kumar, told a media conference here on Tuesday. He was present here on the eve of the inauguration of the Kalanikethan Mall at Dwarakanagar on Wednesday. Stating that the firm had first set up a cloth showroom in Vijayawada in 1990 to sell designer wear Kanchipuram silk sarees, he said that subsequently it expanded its operations to the twin cities. However, these were only silk showrooms. A showroom was also opened in Cleveland and there were plans to set up another one in New Jersey. In addition to traditional Kanchi silks and handlooms, jewellery, gold, silver and diamonds would be sold in the mall. The mall would be opened by top model Katrina Kaif. Film star Sangeetha would participate in the inaugural ceremony.
