No power

COIMBATORE, APRIL 13 . There will be no power supply in the following places on April 17 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. owing to shutdown of Coimbatore sub-station for maintenance work:

Part of Avarampalayam, part of Rathinapuri, Lakshmipuram, Gandhipuram, Tatabad, Sivananda Colony, Alamunagar, Siddapudur Electric Crematorium Road, P.N. Palayam, GKNM Hospital, Residency Hotel, Police Hospital, President Hall, D.B.F. Road, R.V. Hotels, Bharathiar Road, X- Cut Road, 100 Feet Road, Nanjappa Road, Nehru Stadium, The Hindu, The Dhina Thandhi, Lakshmi Mills, Part of Kamadenu Nagar, Part of A.N. Layout, part of Siva Sakthi Colony, Gandhi Nagar, Anna Nagar, Ganapathy Town.

Held

The City Police on Monday arrested 8 persons on M.N.G. Street, and four on Sullivan Street on charges of gambling and recovered Rs. 2,045 and Rs. 605 from them.

Fake passport

The Immigration Officials at the Coimbatore Airport arrested Mumtaj (24) a resident of Udupi in Karnataka, on Tuesday morning when she arrived by the Sharjah-Kochi-Coimbatore Indian Airlines Flight, using the passport of Sheba alias Roshi of Ernakulam.

Burgled

Gold chain, bangles and a camera, totally estimated at Rs. 15,000 were burgled from the house of Arunprasad (35) of Gandhimanagar in Saravanampatty area. He has preferred a complaint suspecting the maid who was working in the house.

VCDs seized

The Ramanathapuram police raided a video CD library on Tiruchi Road here. They seized 289 pirated CDs of latest Tamil films and 38 pornographic CDs.

The library owner Raghavan and employee Senthilkumar have been arrested.
